Sports nutrition can be a very complicated topic for those seeking a balanced way to eat healthy, satisfying meals that also help achieve peak athletic performance. In order to simplify the role of nutrition and hydration for sports performance it's easiest to break it into phases.

All the energy we need for life as well as for exercise comes from the food we eat and the fluids we drink. These nutrients are commonly broken into three classes:
